OMI ARCHITECTURE RESIDENCY

LOCATION:

OMI INTERNATIONAL ARTS CENTER

[FALL 2015]

This project is a proposal for an architecture residency at OMI International Arts Center. The project derives from a grid system that is reflective of the landscape of the site. The top of the hill was chosen as the immediate site since it provides the highest level of opportunity to experience the extensive lands of the property.  A series of rectangular forms were moved  and manipulated in relation to the grid to give logic to the formal aspects of the buildings. The most notable feature of the project is the wall that wraps around the crest of the hill and extends the entire way down the site. Along the wall is a ramp that allows for the interaction of the housing, public gallery, and studio buildings  as well as a recreational way to experience the site. The wall, ramp, and building designs rely on what is visible, nonvisible, and able to be manipulated due to the orientation on the site.
